Convert the following direct statements into indirect speech using the passive form of the Past Perfect tense.

  • Active Past Perfect: had + Past Participle (V3)
  • Passive Past Perfect: had + been + Past Participle (V3)
It's not always necessary to change the tenses when converting direct speech to indirect / reported speech made immediately, or shortly after, the direct speech occurred. However, when converting direct speech to indirect / reported speech that actually happening in the past, change tense to an appropriate past tense.
